Cactus Power Center at Prasada is an 80 acre retail center for Westcor, RED and WDP Partners within a 1800 acre commercial master plan. Cactus Power Center strives to create fresh and original architecture and site design, generated from the master development branding precepts of Serenity, Movement and Refreshment.  Taking cues from the migration of water rippling from a central point of impact, the project’s radial site design reinforces a unified layout, with all major retailers facing in and toward the major roadways.  Clustered shops oriented on this entry point create an intimate retail village as an introduction to the larger destination users beyond.  The backdrop of a desert geology continuously changed by water gives many strong geometric cues in the form of sedimentary layering, eroding surfaces, cascading forms, and vertical spires.   Incorporating fluid movement in the buildings through solar art screens allows for daily and seasonal change of light and shadow across building surfaces.
